Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors
These members are trained to assist the priest at our Sunday Eucharist. Some are also licensed to be Eucharistic Visitors who are trained to share communion at home or in the hospital with our sick and homebound parishioners.

Our Adult Choir sings during our Sunday Eucharist and for special services from the Sunday after Labor Day until the Sunday after Trinity Sunday (usually the middle of June). Knowing how to read music is helpful but not necessary. We also invite people who love to sing or play an instrument to join with the choir occasionally. The choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. Our Children’s Choir sings preiodically, sometimes with the adults, and sometimes on their own. Children’s practice takes place during Sunday School and after the service one Sunday each month. |

Ushers and Greeters
We have a group of individuals who regularly act as ushers. These individuals greet everyone who enters the sanctuary, distribute programs, choose members of the congregation to present the elements, and pass the alms basin. Our greeters welcome every one who enters the church door, and they guide visitors to coffee hour. Being a greeter or an usher is a great way to meet members of St. Andrew’s.
Coffee Hour Hosts
The people of St. Andrew’s love to socialize, and our weekly coffee hours from September to June provide a setting for a light snack, coffee, tea or juice, and good conversation. All are welcome and encouraged to stay for this time of fellowship. Please join us for coffee and sign up for a turn at being a coffee hour host.
Ladies’ Guild
This group includes all the women of St. Andrew’s. We have been active since the 1950’s, assisting the church creatively, financially, prayerfully, and with the ingenuity of elbow grease. We meet regularly to work on crafts for the Annual Fall Bazaar and luncheon, and we host the funeral receptions and special events. We also enjoy social times together with day trips and outings.
Men’s Group
This informal group meets for breakfast on Wednesdays, providing fellowship beyond Sunday mornings. They provide solutions for world peace, politics, religion and professional sports. The Men’s Group also contributes to the parish by completing small but significant projects around the church and grounds. They are always looking for new “members.”
Church Library
St. Andrew’s is blessed with a library of approximately 800 books. There are 26 non-fictional categories of books donated to the church to assist us in our spiritual growth. The library is located in the Chapel and dedicated in memory of a 13-year old girl and a veteran of World War II.
Fish Fry
It is no secret that the best fish fry in town during Lent is at St. Andrew’s. This historical annual event has run under the direction of vintage and new leaders for many years. This successful fundraiser has offered us the opportunity to host a major community event, while strengthening the fellowship between parish members and Scout families as we all roll up our sleeves and work for the Lord.
Community Store
Located on Main Street in the Village of Newfane , the
St. Andrew’s Community store has served the Newfane and surrounding areas for over 50 years. Parish members staff this community thrift shop. Some proceeds from the store are given to the church, which in turn donates a portion to other local charities. Food Pantry patrons can receive a voucher to obtain necessary items for free. Deanery Council Representatives
St. Andrew’s is actively involved in the Niagara Deanery Council, which consists of delegates elected to represent each parish in Niagara County at the annual Diocesan Convention. The delegates meet four to five times a year to attend to the business of the Deanery. The October meeting is an informational meeting chaired by the Dean to prepare delegates for the Diocesan Convention.
Food Pantry
St. Andrew’s participates in a community-based food pantry to provide grocery items to the many needy families in our community. Congregational members regularly bring items or donate cash to this mission. We also observe a monthly “Hunger Sunday” when we contribute a collection of food and money to the community food pantry.
The Newfane Initiative: Habitat for Humanity
St. Andrew’s as joined with thirteen other churches in the Newfane community to sponsor and support building homes for Habitat for Humanity. We organize fundraising, volunteer on the building site, provide meals for volunteer workers, and develop educational materials for members of the community. The Newfane Initiative built a house in Newfane in 2006 and has just dedicated a new home, completed in time for Thanksgiving 2007.
Support Groups
Alcoholics Anonymous, Alzheimer’s Support Group, and a Parent Support Group are just some of the different support groups that meet at St. Andrew’s. (Contact the church office at 778-7633 or at office@standrewsburt.com for more information.)
Nursing Home Prayer Service
St. Andrew’s leads a prayer and hymn service at the Newfane Rehabilitation and Health Facility on the third Sunday of each month at 2:00 p.m. Two lay readers and an assistant conduct the services, providing familiar music, hymns, and assisting the residents with the service notebooks. Many of the residents and their families look forward to this time of music and worship.
